Any busy Mom can relate to the relentless demands of parenting. Topped with the stress of working, moms trade off our own health and fitness needs to accomplish everything else on our overflowing plates. The result? Not feeling so great about the way we look and feel about ourselves.

Real fit moms reveal their secrets

Two Westfield moms who’ve dedicated their lives to nutrition and fitness have figured out a way to get moms’ groove back with a six-week program geared specifically toward busy moms.

 

Called Deflate Your Weight, participants work with certified holistic nutrition and health coach Kim Hinderliter and fitness expert Jenifer Wirtshafter to lose weight, lose inches and increase their energy. They’ve seen women lose 12, 13 even 21 pounds in six weeks. So what’s the secret?

 

“We work with each person to determine their health and fitness level and adapt the program for each individual,” explains Jenifer Wirtshafter owner of Jeni-Fit. “Holistic nutrition coaching and meal planning, weekly personal training and a variety of weekly Jeni-Fit classes are geared to each person’s preferences.” 

 

Certified holistic nutrition and health coach Kim Hinderliter of Taste For Nutrition explains how nutrition, not a diet, plays a key role.

Many women are anxious and confused about what to eat, since there is so much contradictory information surrounding nutrition today. She simplifies the process and helps them implement new positive healthy habits for better weight loss and overall health.

 

 “I provide recipes, meal suggestions and a list of pantry items to keep on hand so clients are always able to put a quick, healthy, figure-friendly meal together. I teach them how to deconstruct, understand and manage their cravings. I also educate them about what makes foods healthy, how to read labels and how change their relationship with food,” Kim explains.

 

But the clincher, according to Jenifer, “Tons of support! We call, email and have encouraging small groups to get our clients motivated and moving. We’re all in it together -- it’s fun and exciting to see the transformations.”

What works?

 “We see real results in six weeks because once our clients start exercising regularly endorphins are boosted,” explains Jenifer. “This translates to improved mood and stabilized blood sugar levels, which help to reduce cravings, improve energy, and reduce stress. It’s a positive cyclical effect.”

According to Kim, “Exercise is a kind of fountain of youth.” In fact multiple studies show what people think is natural aging is really due to a sedentary lifestyle. Exercising can help reverse problems such as loss of muscle strength and bone mass. It promotes better sleep, sex drive, and cognitive function. “Even many of the physical changes usually related to menopause may actually be due to inactivity and not merely hormones. Exercise improves PMS and decreases hot flashes,” she explains.

"I lost 21 pounds in six weeks doing the Deflate Your Weight challenge.  The combination of classes, nutrition workshops and the continuous support helped me reach my goal.  The variety of classes offered at Jeni-Fit Studios, from cardio to tone, helped me shrink and tone every part of my body.  Jeni-Fit and Taste for Nutrition helped me release my inner skinny girl!" says Chris, a former Deflate Your Weight participant.  Since Chris “graduated” from Deflate Your Weight she lost 13.5 more lbs.
