Suspense and Jitters!
Update on the efforts towards the American Foundation for Suicide Prevention walk on September 30th
Things are still going full steam. This AFSP fundraiser has become an integrated part of my life!
I recently pulled the donation cans out of all the stores that they were sitting in. The walk is September 30th, and I want to focus on other events until then. Besides, most of them were in since April. I figured that was plenty of time!

For the approximately three months they were in place, they raised $113.66!!! I think it was exceptionally fruitful! I will see about doing this again next year! Now is the dilemma of where to store the cans for the year. Ugh!

I want to thank the owners of Joanie’s, Bell’s Pharmacy, The Porch, Mr. Wraps, Cheese! Please, Rogue Comics, Cranford Bike Shop, and Tony’s Pizzeria for allowing me to put donation cans in their stores!
I would also like to greatly like to thank everyone that threw shekels into these cans. Whether it was while you were pickin’ up some lunch, getting your prescription, getting your bike fixed. Maybe you sought these cans out from reading about them here. Any way you donated through this: Thank you from me. Thank you from the AFSP. And Thank you from everyone that will benefit from the research and funding that the AFSP is generating from this.
You know who you are!
Early August, I had another event. My birthday was July 30th, so I had a bunch of friends over for that movie night/fundraising party.
It was good friends, good food, and a marathon of Anthony Hopkins movies. It was just because we really like Anthony Hopkins: he’s a great actor. Thinking about it now, it’s a greater correlation than anyone realized! Anthony Hopkins suffers from depression and is a recovering alcoholic. Why not celebrate the achievements of mental illness by raising money for the American Foundation for Suicide Prevention! Hm….I’ll have to bring that to my friends’ attention!
It’s amazing how many celebrities suffer mental illness and advocate so highly for treatment!
On the marque was Silence of the Lambs, Thor, and Bram Stoker’s Dracula. An excellent day in which everyone donated, and we raised $35!
The Mary Kay party at my church is September 12th at 7pm. It’s going to be at First Presbyterian Church of Cranford on Springfield Ave. I’ve contacted the appropriate people at my church, and they think it’s a great idea! I’m still hammering out the fine details, but as of now, it’s a go!
If any of you fine readers are interested in attending, please Email me at Christine.Stolte@Gmail.com so I can get an idea of head count.
26 days until the walk! The countdown is well under way. A little over three weeks. I’m trying to assemble my team and organize us into a well-oiled machine. I’m trying to arrange an “art party” so we can decorate team wear. It’s hard to get so many people in the same place at the same time!
We can make this work! This is going to be a great walk!!
