Burglars Break Into Cranford Home Early Wednesday Morning, Police Say

The resident encountered a man in their home.

CRANFORD, NJ — A Cranford home was broken into along Beech Street early Wednesday morning, Cranford Police said.

At around 4:30 a.m., authorities responded to the home for a report of a burglary that was in progress.

At least one man was able to get in through a first-floor window. Another suspect was waiting outside.

The resident confronted the man and engaged in what police said was a "brief struggle" before the suspect escaped.

No injuries were reported. The first-floor window was damaged by the suspects during the burglary, authorities said.

A white mid-size SUV was seen near the home immediately before and after the break-in. Residents close by are asked to check their doorbell and surveillance footage for any potential connection to this case.
