Business and Franchise Ownership: Free Seminar Offered by the NJ Small Business Development Center at Kean University

Designed for persons considering entrepreneurship as a career option but who want a proven business model.

The New Jersey Small Business Development Center (NJSBDC) at Kean University will present a free seminar, titled Business and Franchise Ownership: Take Control of Your Life and Your Career, on Wed., Sept. 16, from 6 p.m. to 7:30 p.m. at Kean’s Nancy Thompson Library, located at 1000 Morris Ave. in Union, N.J.

Designed for persons considering entrepreneurship as a career option but who want a proven business model, or individuals interested in the autonomy and independence of running their own business but who are unsure of what type of business to pursue, this workshop will present the pros and cons of buying an existing business or franchise.

Presented by Boynton R. Weekes of FranNet of NJ/NYC, this seminar will explore:
· Common myths and truths about franchising
· Government regulations for franchises
· The importance of establishing personal goals and objectives
· Ways to research and select the appropriate franchise
· How to finance a business
