Cranford Alleged Bike Thief Arrested

The Newark man cut the lock to a bike, worth $600, parked at the Cranford Train Station in Septemeber, police report.

CRANFORD, NJ — A Newark man was arrested in connection to bicycle theft that had occurred at the south side of the Cranford train station on Sept. 21.

On Oct. 18 Detective Derek Farbanec arrested Lannie Coleman, 48, who was charged with theft, possession of burglary tools and criminal mischief after a three-week long investigation.

The victim parked and locked his bicycle, valued at $600, early in the day on Sept. 21. When he returned at 5:30 p.m. he noticed that it was missing and the lock had been cut, police report.

Maplewood Police had assisted in the identification of Coleman, who was released pending a superior court date.
