Andrews Concedes In Cranford Committee Race
Kathleen Miller Prunty and Mary O'Connor were in the lead as provisional and vote-by-mail ballots are being tallied.
CRANFORD, NJ - Democrat Brian Andrews has conceded in the race for Cranford Township Committee after the provisional ballots and vote-by-mail ballots were counted on Friday.
"The final votes were counted earlier today, and unfortunately we came up less than 40 votes short. I congratulate Commissioner Mary O’Connor on her re-election and congratulate again my running Kathleen Miller Prunty for her victory as the highest vote getter in town," Andrews said in a statement. "Kathleen has already made a strong positive impact on our community from her years of service to Cranford, and I know we can expect even better things ahead."
Heading into Friday Democrat Kathleen Miller Prunty and Republican Mary O'Connor were in the lead with 3,522 votes and 3,491. Right behind them were Democrat Brian Andrews with 3,388 votes and Republican Phil Siliato with 3,022 votes.

"I have my head up and I hope you do too. We ran a high-energy, positive campaign focused on the issues important to the future of our community. Even though we didn’t win, the campaign itself was a success in elevating the conversation on pedestrian safety, pressuring to restore direct NYC train service, and developing new family-oriented proposals for our town. We also had some fun along the way. There is a lot to be proud of," Andrews said. "Sincere thanks to Jill Wohrle and my family for agreeing to let me run for township committee and supporting me every step of the way. I couldn’t have done it without Jill, Kate, Jamie, and Woodrow in my corner. Thank you to all the friends, neighbors, and volunteers who helped these past several months. There are many ways to make a difference in our community, and I am humbled you thought this effort was worth your limited free time and energy."
Regardless of the count Friday, the results will not be official until certified by the Clerk's Office.
