Cranford Cops Get CLEAR Training
Members of the department took part in training for the Community Law Enforcement Addiction Recovery Program last week.

CRANFORD, NJ - Members of the Cranford Police Department took part in training for the Community Law Enforcement Addiction Recovery Program (CLEAR) initiative last week.
Authorities said what while strong enforcement is still needed to combat the sale of illegal substances, providing increased access to treatment facilities and recovery support networks are needed to help the individuals that want to get better.
The ultimate goal of the program is to provide and maintain the proper support for the patient and their family from the beginning of the process to the very end, police said.

The success hinges on patients being reintegrated back into their communities and leading healthy lives with a productive future. Training was provided by Prevention Links.
Prevention Links is a private, not-for-profit organization, which takes a leadership role in the prevention of drugs, alcohol, tobacco and related issues, according to their website.
With community being defined as any environment where people live, work, or learn, the goal of Prevention Links is to pull together all available resources to eliminate the deleterious effects of drugs, alcohol, violence, and inadequate educational and health institutions in our communities.

Prevention Links focuses on identifying and enhancing existing strengths within the individual, family, school, and work setting to serve as the first and most valuable resource in sustainable revitalization of all types of community.
