CRANFORD, NJ - Members of the Cranford Police Department, ranging from the rank of Captain to Communications Officer will be participating in Cranford PBA Local 52’s No-Shave November fundraiser.

Each day, 22,000 people die from cancer worldwide, according to the World Health Organization and nearly half of cancer diagnoses and deaths are preventable. No-Shave November's mission is to not only raise funds for cancer research and treatment but to educate the population about preventative measures.

The No-Shave November campaign has successfully raised over $3.5 million dollars to combat this disease. Every dollar raised brings researchers one step closer in their efforts to fund cancer research and education, help prevent the disease, and aid those fighting the battle.

Typically, participants donate the money they spend on shaving and grooming products, which ultimately benefits such organizations as the American Cancer Society, Prevent Cancer Foundation, Fight Colorectal Cancer, and St. Jude Children’s Research Hospital. To date, No-Shave November has raised millions of dollars for these organizations. This year, Cranford PBA Local # 52 will be collecting the donations and donating the funds directly to members of the Cranford PBA Family and Extended Family that are currently putting up inspiring fights in their cancer battles.

Since 2014, members of the Cranford Police Department, nicknamed The Fuzz, have raised between $5,000 and $10,000 annually for No-Shave November. They hope to make this year the best year yet as they raise the money for some of their own.

“The Cranford Police Department is a big family and our people have big hearts. They will always do anything they can to support the families of some of our own," Chief Ryan Greco said. "They’ve been doing this for years to raise money to help people. This year they’re even more motivated to help those closer to home.”
