Cougars Softball Downs Linden 11-0
Cranford exploded for four runs in both the fifth and sixth innings en route to an 11-0 victory.
Left-handed pitcher Julie Siragusa (3-4, 2 2B) has been outstanding for Cranford all season long on the mound. Tuesday proved to be no exception as the junior went the distance for the Cougars striking out six Linden batters in the 11-0 Cranford victory over the Linden Tigers on a blustery afternoon at Memorial Field.
Trailing 3-0 in the fourth, Linden was able to threaten when they got runners on second and third with only one out in the frame. The Cougars defense quickly got their pitcher out of the jam with a pretty 2-4-1 double play that saw catcher Melissa Moreno (3-3, RBI, 2 2B, 2 R) scoop up a dribbler and fire to first basemen Izzy Acton (2-2) for the first out. Acton quickly shot it back home to Siragusa who was able to make the tag for the third out of the inning.
Leading 3-0, the Cougars’ bats came alive in the fifth and sixth innings as they produced four runs in each to ensure to pull ahead 11-0 and ensure the road victory. The impressive display was capped off by a three-run Jess Rediger (2-2, HR, 4 RBI) blast that went deep over the centerfield fence. Rediger's shot scored Moreno, who picked up an RBI before the home run, and Emily Snyder (1-3, 2 R)

Stephanie Bagnewski (2-4, 2 RBI, 2B, R) followed Rediger's fifth-inning RBI with a laser two-run double in the fifth to put the visitors ahead 6-0. Acton then drove home Bagnewski to give Cranford the 7-0 lead to end the inning.
The Cougars return home on Wednesday when they host a strong Delaware Valley squad at 4 pm.
