Cranford Drug Overdoses In 2017: Naloxone Used 15 Times

Police in Union County administered naloxone 166 times in 2017 as well as 94 fatal overdoses as of Dec. 8, according to the UCPO.

CRANFORD, NJ — The Union County Prosecutor's Office announced that officers used naloxone more than 100 times in 2017 for drug overdoses across the county.

Police in Union County administered naloxone 166 times in 2017 as well as 94 fatal overdoses as of Dec. 8. Naloxone is a medication designed to rapidly reverse opioid overdose.

According to the map posted by the UCPO, Plainfield had the highest number of naloxone deployments with 30. Cranford reported 15.

New Providence and Mountainside had the least deployments with zero.

The UCPO releases the numbers in an effort to bring awareness to the opioid problem in the county and across the state. They posted a map breaking down the naloxone use with the hastag #confrontingacrisis.
