Cranford DWI Checkpoint Yields 5 Arrests

Five people were arrested following a driving while intoxicated checkpoint that Cranford Police held last Friday.

CRANFORD, NJ — Five people were arrested following a driving while intoxicated checkpoint that Cranford Police held last Friday.

The checkpoint was conducted at the intersection of Centennial Avenue and Hayes Street in Cranford on April 28 between 9 p.m. and 3 a.m. where the following people were arrested:

Miguel Rosmaninho, 32, Cranford: A 2015 GMC was directed into the DWI Checkpoint. Following an investigation at the scene, Patrolman Jason D’Agostino determined that the driver, Miguel Rosmaninho, was driving while intoxicated. Rosmaninho was arrested, processed, and released to a family memeber pending a Municipal Court appearance. Rosmaninho was issued motor vehicle summonses for driving while intoxicated and improper window tint.

Brianna Mills, 21, Newark: A 2014 Nissan was directed into the DWI Checkpoint. Following an investigation at the scene, Patrolman Brian Trotter located marijuana inside the vehicle. A passenger, Brianna Mills, was arrested for possession of marijuana(under 50g) and possession of paraphernalia, processed, and released pending a Municipal Court appearance. The driver was issued a motor vehicle summons for improper tint.

Noel Nieves, 29, Elizabeth; Francisco Troche, 25, Kearny; and Kevin Gomez, 26, Jersey City: A 2005 Acura was directed into the DWI Checkpoint. Following an investigation at the scene, Patrolman Joseph Scherbo determined that the driver, Noel Nieves, was driving while intoxicated and also in possession of marijuana. A passenger, Francisco Troche, was found to be in possession of marijuana and Xanax. Another passenger, Kevin Gomez, was in possession of cocaine. All three were arrested on charges of possession of a marijuana(under 50g), possession of a controlled dangerous substance(Cocaine), possession of a prescription legend drug (Xanax) and driving while intoxicated, processed, and released pending Court appearances. Nieves was issued motor vehicle summonses for driving while intoxicated and failure to submit to breath.
