Cranford Group Of Alleged Robbers Beat Garwood Man: Police

Breaking: The group approached the victim walking on the sidewalk, struck him in the face causing him to fall and stole his wallet: police.

CRANFORD, NJ — A group of young men from Cranford were arrested for attacking and robbing a Garwood man as he was walking on the street, authorities announce.

The 22-year-old Garwood victim was walking on Lincoln Avenue West near Benjamin Street on Saturday, Nov. 29 at 2:19 a.m. when a group of men beat and robbed him, Cranford Police report.

The group approached the victim as he was walking on the sidewalk, struck him in the face causing him to fall and one of the men stole his wallet before running away, according to the report.

Following a week-long investigation Detective Sgt. Ryan Greco and Detective Timothy O'Brien were able to identify and charge five men with second degree Robbery.

  1. John Chinchar, 18, of Cranford
  2. Brian Gioioso, 20, of Cranford
  3. Sean Leonard, 18, of Cranford
  4. John Lobue, 19, of Cranford
  5. Ahmad Davis, 19, of Cranford

Chinchar, Gioioso, Leonard and Lobue were all arrested on Dec. 8 and Davis turned himself in on Dec. 9. All five were released on $10,000 bail.
