Cranford Man Arrested For Heroin, Hypodermic Needle Possession: Police Blotter

CRANFORD, NJ — A Cranford man was among 8 to be arrested for drug-related charges including heroin, crack cocaine, hypodermic needles and marijuana, police report.
Cranford Police Blotter:
On May 27 at 5:44 p.m.: Patrol units responded to Arlington Road on a report of a suspicious person. Patrolman John Rattigan located the individual, Matthew DiMarco, 29, of Cranford sitting on a retaining wall of an Arlington Road residence. Following an investigation at the scene, Rattigan located heroin and a hypodermic syringe on DiMarco. Furthermore, it was discovered that DiMarco had numerous arrest warrants out of Essex and Union counties. DiMarco was arrested for possession of a controlled dangerous substance (heroin), possession of a hypodermic syringe, possession of paraphernalia and contempt of court and released pending a Superior Court appearance. DiMarco was released on his own recognizance on his active warrants.

On May 23 at 12:17 p.m.: A 2009 Toyota was stopped at the intersection of E. North Avenue at Garden State Parkway exit 137 southbound ramp for a seatbelt violation. Following an investigation at the scene, Patrolman Joseph Sherbo located a hypodermic syringe and a glass pipe, commonly used to inhale narcotics, inside the vehicle. The driver, Jonathan Liebowitz, 28, of Spotswood was arrested for possession of a hypodermic syringe and possession of paraphernalia, processed and released pending a Municipal Court appearance. Liebowitz was also issued a motor vehicle summons for failure to wear a seatbelt.
On May 23 at 1:29 p.m.: A 2006 Dodge was stopped southbound on the Garden State Parkway for a lane violation. Following an investigation at the scene, Patrolman Michael Dubitsky located multiple hypodermic syringes inside the vehicle. While placing the driver, Guy Knapp, 27, of Matawan under arrest, it was determined that he was in possession of heroin. The passenger, Dinessa Gehring, 24, of Parlin was placed under arrest for an active warrant. While being taken into to custody, it was determined that Gehring was also in possession of heroin. Both Gehring and Knapp were processed at Cranford Police Headquarters for possession of a controlled dangerous substance (heroin), possession of a hypodermic syringe, possession of paraphernalia and contempt of court and given Superior Court appearances. Knapp was issued motor vehicle summonses for driving while suspended, careless driving and possessing a controlled dangerous substance in a motor vehicle.

On May 23 at 4:37 p.m.: A 2010 Mitsubishi was stopped at the intersection of E. North Avenue and the Garden State Parkway exit 137 northbound ramp for a seatbelt violation. While on scene, a passenger, Sir Blanks, 22, of Rahway began ingesting raw marijuana. Patrolman Robert Jordan instructed Blanks to spit the marijuana out, but Blanks failed to comply. Blanks was arrested for obstructing administration of law and hindering apprehension processed and released pending a Municipal Court appearance. Banks was issued a motor vehicle summons for failure to wear a seatbelt. The driver was issued a motor vehicle summons for delaying traffic.
On May 24 at 1:07 p.m.: A 2007 Volkswagen was stopped at the intersection of Raritan Road and Mohican Place for a seatbelt violation. Following an investigation at the scene, Patrolman Ali Muhammad located marijuana inside the vehicle. The driver, Henry Valderrama, 19, of Linden was arrested for possession of marijuana (under 50 grams) and possession of paraphernalia, processed and released pending a Municipal Court Appearance. Valderrama and a passenger were issued motor vehicle summonses for failing to wear a seatbelt.
On May 24 at 7:30 p.m.: A 2000 Honda was stopped at the intersection of East North Avenue and Garden State Parkway exit 137 northbound for a seatbelt violation. Following an investigation at the scene, Patrolman Jason D’Agostino located marijuana inside the vehicle. A passenger, Donald Hill, 37, of East Orange was arrested for possession of Marijuana (under 50 grams) and possession of paraphernalia, processed and released pending a Municipal Court appearance. Hill was issued a motor vehicle summons for failure to wear a seatbelt.
On May 24 at 7:57 p.m.: A 2000 Buick was stopped at the intersection of Raritan Road and Garden State Parkway exit 136 southbound ramp for an equipment violation. Following an investigation at the scene, Patrolman Ryan Gerrity located crack cocaine and a hypodermic syringe inside the vehicle. A passenger, Daniel Marrero, 43, of Jersey City was arrested for possession of a controlled dangerous substance (cocaine), possession of paraphernalia and possession of a hypodermic syringe, processed and released pending a Superior Court appearance. The driver was issued motor vehicle summonses for failure to maintain lamps and failure to exhibit documents.
On May 26 at 7:05 p.m.: A 2007 Cadillac was stopped at the intersection of E. North Avenue and the Garden State Parkway exit 137 northbound ramp for a seat belt violation. Following an investigation at the scene, Patrolman Jason D’Agostino located Tramadol inside the vehicle. The driver, Ruben Maldonado, 27, of Easton, Pennsylvania was arrested for possession of a prescription analog (tramadol) and possession of paraphernalia, processed and released pending a Municipal Court appearance. Maldonado was issued motor vehicle summonses for failure to wear a seatbelt and possessing a controlled dangerous substance inside a vehicle.
On May 28 at 11:16 p.m.: A 2016 Mazda was stopped at the intersection of Raritan Road and Centennial Avenue for a traffic signal violation. Following an investigation at the scene, Patrolman Daniel Donnerstag determined that the driver, Danielle Davidson, 34, of Linden was driving while intoxicated. Davidison was arrested for driving while intoxicated and being under the influence of a controlled dangerous substance, processed and released to a friend pending a Municipal Court appearance. Davidson was issued motor vehicle summonses for failing to stop at a red light, and driving while intoxicated.
