Cranford Parks Dropped From Union County Deer Hunt
The annual Union County deer hunt held in January and February will not include Nomahegan and Lenape parks

As reported in the Cranford Patch on December 28, 2014 the annual deer hunt in Union County parks will exclude Nomahegan and Lenape parks. In past years the Cranford Parks were included in the hunt. When asked to comment, an official at the Union County Parks office had no comment. It is apparent that a minority of residents have been vocal while the silent majority has not been heard. This park has been included in past years and it needs to be included in the annual hunt.
Deer are everywhere in our neighborhoods and the overpopulation poses risks to residents. Incidents of lyme disease, car accidents and property damage are all concerns of Cranford residents. In 2014, the deer hunt produced a lower yield as snow limited the effectiveness of the hunt. Every day we see the impact of the low yield in last January’s hunt in our streets. Deer lumbering down streets at all hours is an everyday occurrence and will only get worse until the culling of the herd in Cranford’s parks is reinstated. Email your demand that the hunt be reinstated to parksinfo@UCNJ.ORG.
