Cranford Passes 'Excellent' 2019 Budget

The average taxpayer is projected to pay $28 more.

CRANFORD, NJ - The average resident in Cranford will be paying around $28 more in municipal taxes in 2019 after the Township Committee officially adopted the 2019 budget Tuesday.

Mayor Patrick Giblin called the budget excellent at its introduction and noted the budget proposed has the lowest municipal tax increase in years.

"It is very tight and it gives residents some much needed tax relief," he said.

Giblin also noted that the budget was below the two percent annual cap for increases imposed on municipalities by the State. The municipal increase for 2019 was 1.14 percent, Giblin said.

According to Giblin, that equates to a $28.92 increase on the average assessed home annually or $7.25 per quarter.
