Cranford Police Arrest 12 On Drug Possession Charges

CRANFORD, NJ — Cranford Police report arresting 12 people on multiple drug charges over the past two weeks, according to the blotter.

Cranford Police blotter:

On Aug. 4 at 1:40 a.m.: A 2017 Ford was stopped on South Avenue West near Lincoln Avenue West for speeding. Following an investigation at the scene, Sgt. Thomas Stiansen arrested the driver, Quentin Padilla, 25, Clark for suspected marijuana located inside the vehicle. He was charged with possession of under 50 grams (marijuana) and possession of drug paraphernalia, processed and provided with a municipal court appearance date. In addition, he was issued motor vehicle summonses for speeding and possession of a controlled dangerous substance in a motor vehicle.

On Aug. 5 at 2:08 a.m.: A 2006 Chevy was stopped on North Avenue East at the Garden State Parkway 137 Exchange for unclear plates. Following an investigation at the scene, Patrolman Nicholas Cook arrested the driver, Brian Basara, 24, of Parlin for suspected heroin located inside the vehicle. He was charged with distribution of a controlled dangerous substance, possession of a controlled dangerous substance and possession of drug paraphernalia, processed and provided with a superior court appearance date. In addition, he was issued motor vehicle summonses for unclear plates, not having a valid registration card in his possession and possession of a controlled dangerous substance in a motor vehicle.

On Aug. 12 at 11:54 a.m.: A 1996 Buick was stopped on North Avenue West near Lincoln Avenue West for unclear plates. Following an investigation at the scene, Patrolman Christopher Gross arrested the driver, Joseph Harris, 46, of Plainfield for suspected heroin located inside the vehicle. He was charged with distribution of a controlled dangerous substance, possession of a controlled dangerous substance and possession of drug paraphernalia, processed and provided with a superior court appearance date. In addition, he was issued motor vehicle summonses for unclear plates, no valid insurance card and possession of a controlled dangerous substance in a motor vehicle.

On Aug. 13 at 12:14 a.m.: A 2011 Nissan was stopped on Raritan Road for speeding. Following an investigation at the scene, Patrolman Nicholas Cook arrested the driver, Nicholas Ramos, 29, of Bronx, New York and a passenger, Stephen Ferraro, 35, of Roselle for suspected marijuana located inside the vehicle. They were both charged with possession of under 50 grams (marijuana) and possession of drug paraphernalia, processed and provided with municipal court appearance dates. In addition, the driver was issued motor vehicle summonses for speeding, not having a valid registration card in his possession and possession of a controlled dangerous substance in a motor vehicle.

On Aug. 13 at 8:09 a.m.: A 1996 Toyota was stopped on Myrtle Street near Rod Smith Place for erratic driving. Following an investigation at the scene, Patrolman Gregory Federici arrested the driver, Nicole Parah, 31, of Hamilton and a passenger, Jonathan Guild, 34, of Hamilton for suspected crack-cocaine, heroin and a hypodermic syringe located inside the vehicle. They were both charged with possession of a controlled dangerous substance, possession of a hypodermic syringe and possession of drug paraphernalia, processed and provided with superior court appearance dates. In addition, the driver was issued motor vehicle summonses for an unsafe lane change and possession of a controlled dangerous substance in a motor vehicle.

On Aug. 13 at 1:37 p.m.: A 2005 Infiniti was stopped on North Avenue East near Carpenter Place for a seatbelt violation. Following an investigation at the scene, Patrolman Ryan Gerrity arrested the driver, Thomas Bradian,48, of Roselle and a passenger, Michael Sergi, 53, of Elizabeth for suspected heroin located on their persons. They were charged with possession of a controlled dangerous substance and possession of drug paraphernalia, processed and provided with superior court appearance dates. In addition, the driver was issued motor vehicle summonses for not having a valid driver’s license in his possession and possession of a controlled dangerous substance in a motor vehicle.

On Aug. 13 at 10:50 p.m.: A 2004 Hyundai was stopped on Centennial Avenue near Raritan Road for failure to signal a turn. Following an investigation at the scene, Patrolman Michael O’Neil arrested the driver, Jesse Argenziano, 24, of Linden and a passenger, Anthony Russo, 29, of Winfield for suspected heroin, marijuana and a hypodermic syringe located inside the vehicle. They were both charged with possession of a controlled dangerous substance, possession of under 50 grams (marijuana), possession of a hypodermic syringe and possession of drug paraphernalia, processed and provided with superior court appearance dates. In addition, the driver was issued motor vehicle summonses for not signaling a turn and possession of a controlled dangerous substance in a motor vehicle.

On Aug. 14 at 2:01 a.m.: A 2015 Toyota was stopped on Ramapo Road near Munsee Drive for an improper turn. Following an investigation at the scene, Patrolman Timothy Handy arrested the driver, Christopher Gonzalez, 23, of Linden for suspected marijuana located inside the vehicle. He was charged with possession of under 50 grams (marijuana) and possession of drug paraphernalia, processed and provided with a municipal court appearance date. In addition, he was issued motor vehicle summonses for an improper turn, not having a valid insurance card in his possession, a seatbelt violation and possession of a controlled dangerous substance in a motor vehicle.
