Cranford Police Arrest 6 For Heroin, Crack, Marijuana Possession

Cranford Police arrested 6 for possession of drugs including crack-cocaine, heroin and marijuana last week.

CRANFORD, NJ — Cranford Police arrested six for possession of drugs including crack-cocaine, heroin and marijuana last week.

On July 10 at 11:48 a.m.: A 2006 Chevrolet was stopped on North Avenue East near the Garden State Parkway 137 Exchange for an expired inspection decal. Following an investigation at the scene, Patrolman Ryan Gerrity arrested the driver, Katherine Mitchell, 32, of Jersey City for suspected crack-cocaine located inside the vehicle. She was charged with possession of a controlled dangerous substance and possession of drug paraphernalia, processed and provided with a superior court appearance date. In addition, she was issued motor vehicle summonses for being a suspended driver, maintenance of lamps, and failure to inspect her vehicle.

On July 11 at 3:16 p.m.: A 2004 Honda was stopped on North Avenue East at Arlington Road for unclear plates. Following an investigation at the scene, Patrolman Christopher Gross arrested the driver, Ibn Thurston, 30, of Newark for suspected heroin located inside the vehicle. He was charged with possession of a controlled dangerous substance and possession of drug paraphernalia, processed and provided with a superior court appearance date. In addition, he was issued motor vehicle summonses for unclear plates, tinted windows and possession of a controlled dangerous substance in a motor vehicle.

On July 11 at 11:41 p.m.: A 2009 Infiniti was stopped on North Avenue East near the Garden State Parkway 137 Exchange for unclear plates. Following an investigation at the scene, Patrolman Timothy Handy arrested a passenger, Alioune Gueye, 19, of East Orange for suspected marijuana located on his person. He was charged with distribution of a controlled dangerous substance, possession of under 50 grams (marijuana), and possession of drug paraphernalia, processed and provided with a superior court appearance date. In addition, he was issued a motor vehicle summons for failure to wear a seat belt.

On July 12 at 12:53 a.m.: A 2010 Honda was stopped on Centennial Avenue near Hayes Street for tinted windows. Following an investigation at the scene, Patrolman Michael O’Neil arrested the driver, Ashton Lofton, 22, of Hillside for suspected marijuana located inside the vehicle. He was charged with possession of under 50 grams (marijuana) and possession of drug paraphernalia, processed and provided with a municipal court appearance date. In addition, he was issued motor vehicle summonses for tinted windows and possession of a controlled dangerous substance in a motor vehicle.

On July 13 at 9:22 p.m.: A 2004 Dodge was stopped on Raritan Road for a seat belt and inspection violation. Following an investigation at the scene, Patrolman Daniel Donnerstag arrested two passengers, Damian Januszczak, 31, of Linden and Bartosz Syrek, 28, of Linden for suspected crack-cocaine located inside the vehicle. They were both charged with possession of a controlled dangerous substance and possession of drug paraphernalia, processed and provided with superior court appearance dates. In addition, the driver was issued motor vehicle summonses for being an unlicensed driver, maintenance of lamps, open container and a seat belt violation.
