Cranford Police Arrest 7 For DWI, Drug Possession
Cranford Police reported making seven arrests for driving while intoxicated and drug possession.

CRANFORD, NJ — Cranford Police reported making seven arrests for driving while intoxicated and drug possession.

On June 19 at 8:32 a.m.: A 2013 Chevy was stopped on Centennial Avenue at Cranford Hall for a view obstruction. Following an investigation at the scene, Patrolman Christopher Gross arrested a passenger, John Ruddy, 24, of Rahway for suspected prescription legend drugs located inside the vehicle. He was charged with possession of prescription legend drugs, processed and provided with a superior court appearance date. Additionally, the driver was issued motor vehicle summonses for having a view obstruction and not having a valid registration card in possession.

On June 21 at 8:20 p.m.: A 2001 Acura was stopped on North Avenue East and the Garden State Parkway 137 Exchange for erratic driving. Following an investigation at the scene, Detective Spencer Durkin arrested the driver, Thomas McFee, 37, of Toms River for suspected heroin found on his person. He was charged with distribution of a controlled dangerous substance, possession of a controlled dangerous substance and possession of paraphernalia, processed and provided with a superior court appearance date. Additionally, he was issued motor vehicle summonses for careless driving, failure to keep right, and possession of a controlled dangerous substance in a motor vehicle.
On June 21 at 9:53 p.m.: A 2005 Saturn was stopped on Centennial Avenue and Hayes Street for a seat belt violation. Following an investigation at the scene, Patrolman Ryan McSharry arrested a passenger, Kevin Castano, 26, of Elizabeth for suspected marijuana and THC oils found inside the vehicle. He was charged with distribution of a controlled dangerous substance, possession of a controlled dangerous substance and possession of paraphernalia, processed and provided with a superior court appearance date. Additionally, he was issued a motor vehicle summonses for failure to wear a seat belt.

On June 23 at 11:29 p.m.: A 2014 Toyota was stopped on Raritan Road and Coleman Avenue. Following an investigation at the scene, Patrolman Ryan McSharry arrested the driver, Markia Jackson, 27, of Jersey City for suspected marijuana located inside the vehicle. She was charged with possession of under 50 grams (marijuana) and possession of drug paraphernalia, processed and provided with a municipal court appearance date. Additionally, she was issued motor vehicle summonses for suspended driver and possession of a controlled dangerous substance in a motor vehicle.
On June 24 at 2:15 a.m.: A 2003 Ford was stopped on Raritan Road and Centennial Avenue for a cracked windshield. Following an investigation at the scene, Patrolman Jason D’Agostino arrested the driver, Shaun Hill, 51, of Sayreville for suspected crack-cocaine located inside the vehicle. He was charged with possession of a controlled dangerous substance, possession of drug paraphernalia and hindering apprehension, processed and provided with a superior court appearance date. Additionally, he was issued motor vehicle summonses for failure to signal a turn, a view obstruction, being a suspended driver, and possession of a controlled dangerous substance in a motor vehicle.
On June 24 at 2:21 a.m.: A 2005 Nissan was stopped on Centennial Avenue and Wall Street for failing to maintain their lane. Following an investigation at the scene, Detective Steven D’Ambola arrested the driver, Brandon Jones, 28, of Garwood for driving while intoxicated. He was charged with driving while intoxicated, processed and provided with a municipal court appearance date. Additionally, he was issued motor vehicle summonses for refusal to submit to breath testing, failure to maintain his lane, careless driving, and failure to keep right.
On June 25 at 9:09 a.m.: A 2011 Hyundai was stopped on North Avenue East and the Garden State Parkway 137 Exchange for a brake lamp out. Following an investigation at the scene, Patrolman Ryan Gerrity arrested the driver, Ryszard Wojcik, 46, of Sayreville for suspected prescription legend drugs located inside the vehicle. He was charged with possession of prescription legend drugs and possession of paraphernalia,processed and provided with a superior court appearance date. Additionally, he was issued motor vehicle summonses for maintenance of lamps and possession of a controlled dangerous substance in a motor vehicle.
