Cranford Police Chief Wozniak Retires
Captain Joseph Van Bergen was appointed acting police chief, who will begin serving on Sept. 1.
CRANFORD, NJ — After 27 years of service, Cranford Police Chief James Wozniak retired on Thursday.
Wozniak joined the department in 1990, was promoted to Sergeant in 2002, Lieutenant in 2005, Captain in 2013 and served as Chief from 2014 to 2017.
"We wish him the best in his retirement!" Cranford Police Department posted.

Captain Joseph Van Bergen was appointed acting police chief to begin serving on Friday.
The resignation and appointment were both approved at the Cranford Township Committee meeting on Aug. 15, according to tapinto.net.

The Cranford Police Department would not comment on Wozniak's retirement and referred all questions to the town attorney.
