Cranford Fox Attacks: 2 Dogs Targeted, Police Say
Police said dogs were attacked on two different streets on Wednesday. Foxes can spread rabies, a fatal disease.
CRANFORD, NJ — Cranford police are warning residents that a fox attacked dogs in two separate incidents in that town Wednesday, one on Orchard Street and one on Cornell Road.
Residents should stay away from any animal acting aggressive or unusual because it have spread rabies. In fact, in November, a fox that attacked five people in Glen Ridge turned out to be rabid.
Last month, a rabid raccoon was killed by police in Summit.

Wednesday, Cranford police wrote, "We have had 2 reports of a fox attacking dogs on Orchard St & 1 on Cornell Rd. The fox was last seen going toward UC College. Be extra cautious when outside."
Police said that if residents observe the fox they should call (201) 272-2222.
