Cranford Residents Protest 7-Eleven Proposal
Cranford will be meeting to discuss the proposed controversial 7-Eleven convenience store tonight.

CRANFORD, NJ — Cranford will be meeting to discuss the proposed controversial 7-Eleven convenience store tonight.
Many residents are against the project slated for 49 South Avenue West in Cranford.
Cranford resident Kristy Donohue created a petition on change.org to gather supporters and signatures of those opposed to the project.

The petition now has 424 supporters, which will be presented at the Cranford Zoning Board of Adjustment's meeting tonight, Monday, Aug. 8 at 8 p.m. in Room 108 of the Municipal Building, 8 Springfield Avenue, Cranford.
Supporters of the petition are against the project because it "will have significant negative impacts to the residents of Cranford."

Negative impacts the protesters claim include:
- 24 hour light and noise pollution directly impacting the surrounding residential homes
- Traffic and safety issues
- Damaging impact on the surrounding residential property values
- Loss of neighborhood character
"We demand that the Zoning Commission reject the proposed application and variances," the petition states.
The group also has a gofundme site set up to collect donations to help pay for engineering and planning experts to testify against the 7-Eleven application.
