Cranford, Summit, Westfield Take Kid Police Academy Applications
The towns of Summit, Westfield, and Cranford have started taking applications for week-long summer police academies for older students.

CRANFORD, NJ — Kindergarten cops? Maybe not — but for youths who are a little older and interested in police work, the towns of Cranford, Westfield, and Summit all recently announced that they're accepting applications for their week-long junior police academies this summer.
The kids will learn about police procedures, in some cases undertake training exercises at the Union County Police Academy, and get to know their local law enforcement professionals.
Summit will hold two, one-week sessions in July for kids aged 11 to 14. Applications are being accepted through May 1. The cost is $100 for either week, but scholarships are available for those experiencing financial hardship.
