Cranford Top Cop Joins Union County College Board Of Governors
Cranford Police Chief Ryan Greco was sworn in March 26.
CRANFORD – Cranford's top cop is walking a new beat as Ryan Greco was sworn in by the County College Board of Trustees to the Board of Governors on March 26. Greco is a graduate of UCC.
“Union County College is proud to have an alumnus and the Chief of Cranford Police Department as a member of our board. The safety of our campuses and our college community is a top priority and a very serious issue,” Union County College Board of Trustees Chair Victor M. Richel said. “We are thankful Chief Greco can find the time in his busy schedule to serve our students and bring a valuable law enforcement perspective to the board.”
Greco is a resident of Cranford and an alumnus of the College and currently serves as the Cranford Chief of Police and has more than 19 years of law enforcement experience. Previously, Greco served the department as a Detective Sergeant and as the Public Information Officer where he worked with news outlets to share information about investigations, traffic events, and natural disasters.

In his years with the Cranford PD, he has been recognized with multiple awards for his service. He received the Department’s Chief Award for the investigation and arrest of a carjacking suspect. He received a citation from the Union/Essex Auto Theft Task Force Command for the arrest of an armed suspect. Finally, he received the Federal Bureau of Investigation Citation for the investigation and arrest of an individual wanted for eight armed robberies.
Greco earned his A.A. degree in criminal justice at Union County College, his B.A. cum laude in criminal justice from Kean University, and was ranked 7th in his class of 54 at the John H. Stamler Police Academy.

Union County College is a public comprehensive community college providing quality, affordable, accessible educational programs that serve the greater Union County region. It is the first of New Jersey’s 19 Associate Degree colleges, serving both career-minded and transfer-oriented students since 1933. The College enrolls almost 20,000 credit, non-credit, and continuing education students and is accredited by the Middle States Commission on Higher Education. Many programs lead to an Associate in Arts, Associate in Science, or an Associate in Applied Science degree.
