Cranford Woman Among 9 Arrested For Drugs: Police
Cranford Police arrested nine people last week for multiple drug charges including cocaine, heroin, marijuana, Xanax and Percocet.

CRANFORD, NJ — Cranford Police arrested nine people last week for multiple drug charges including cocaine, heroin, marijuana, Xanax and Percocet.
Cranford Police Blotter:
On Aug. 13 at 6:31 p.m.: A 2014 Chevrolet was stopped at the intersection of Centennial Avenue and Winans Avenue for speeding. Following an investigation at the scene, Patrolman Jason D’Agostino located Xanax and Percocet inside the vehicle. The driver, Amanda Maurer, 22, of Cranford was arrested for possession of a prescription legend drug (Xanax and Percocet) and possession of paraphernalia, processed and released pending a Municipal Court appearance. Maurer was also issued motor vehicle summonses for speeding and possession of a controlled dangerous substance inside a motor vehicle.

On Aug. 12 at 8:29 p.m.: A 2011 Nissan was stopped at the intersection of E. North Avenue and Forest Avenue for speeding. Following an investigation at the scene, Patrolman Ryan Gerrity located crack cocaine inside the vehicle. The driver, Anthony Debellis, 23, of Scotch Plains was arrested for possession of a controlled dangerous substance (cocaine) and possession of paraphernalia, processed and released pending a Superior Court appearance.
On Aug. 12 at 6:48 p.m.: A 2004 Pontiac was stopped at the intersection of Myrtle Street and Park Terrace for an equipment violation. Following an investigation at the scene, Patrolman Gregory Federici located a stun gun inside the vehicle. The driver, Keith Singleton, 31, of Newark was arrested for possession of a prohibited weapon, processed and released pending a Superior Court appearance. Singleton was also issued a summons for failing to maintain lamps.

On Aug. 14 at 10:57 p.m.: A 2004 Nissan was stopped at the intersection of Centennial Avenue and Raritan Road for careless driving. Following an investigation at the scene, Patrolman Gregory Federici located marijuana inside the vehicle. A passenger, Craig Jacobson Jr., 18, of Linden was arrested for possession of marijuana (less than 50 grams) and possession of paraphernalia, processed and released pending a Municipal Court appearance. The driver was issued a motor vehicle summons for careless driving.
On Aug. 15 at 9:41 a.m.: A 2010 Infiniti was stopped at the intersection of E. South Avenue and Centennial Avenue for multiple equipment violations. Following an investigation at the scene, Patrolman Corey LoForte located marijuana inside the vehicle. The driver, Opeyemi Oyawusi, 25, of South Orange was arrested for possession of marijuana (less than 50g) and possession of paraphernalia, processed and released pending a Municipal Court appearance. Oyawusi was issued motor vehicle summonses for driving while suspended, possession of a controlled dangerous substance inside a motor vehicle, cracked windshield and unclear plates.
On Aug. 14 at 7:53 p.m.: A 2001 Chevrolet was stopped on E. South Avenue for a seatbelt violation. Following an investigation at the scene, Patrolman Ryan Gerrity located heroin and cocaine inside the vehicle. The driver, Tyler Bailey, 21, of Summit was arrested for possession of a controlled dangerous substance (Heroin and Cocaine) and possession of paraphernalia processed and released pending a Superior Court appearance. Additionally, Bailey was issued motor vehicle summonses for failure to wear seatbelt, no rear view mirror, failure to exhibit documents and possession of a controlled dangerous substance in a motor vehicle.
On Aug. 17 at 3:31 a.m.: While on routine patrol units located a parked occupied 2006 Dodge in the area of South Union Avenue and Fairfield Avenue. Following an investigation at the scene, Patrolman Handy located marijuana inside the vehicle. The driver, Nirel Bravo, 20, of Plainfield and passenger, Jabril Thompson, 19, of Plainfield was arrested for possession of marijuana (less than 50 grams) and possession of paraphernalia, processed and released pending a Municipal Court appearance.
On Aug. 17 at 2:51 p.m.: A 2001 Jeep was stopped at the intersection of the Garden State Parkway northbound exit 137 at E. North Avenue for a seatbelt violation. Following an investigation at the scene, Patrolman Pasternak located heroin inside the vehicle. A passenger, James Lakatos Jr., 33, of Carteret was arrested for possession of a controlled dangerous substance (heroin) and possession of paraphernalia, processed and released pending a Superior Court appearance. The driver was issued motor vehicle summonses for driving while suspended and failure to wear a seatbelt.
On Aug. 17 at 7:04 p.m.: A 2006 Hyundai was stopped at the intersection of Kenilworth Boulevard and Chippewa Way for speeding. Following an investigation at the scene, Patrolman Knight located marijuana inside the vehicle. A passenger, Albert Ramirez, 27, of Elizabeth was arrested for possession of marijuana (less than 50 grams) and possession of paraphernalia, processed and released pending a Municipal Court appearance. Ramirez was also issued a motor vehicle summons for failure to wear a seatbelt.
