Cranford Worker Caught On Fire, Airlifted To Hospital

The man was working on an electrical panel when an explosion occurred, causing the his clothing to ignite on fire, Cranford police report.

CRANFORD, NJ — A man was airlifted to a hospital after he caught fire while working on an electrical panel, Cranford Police report.

Police responded to National Mill Industrial on Thursday around 11:28 a.m. on a report of a person who was on fire inside the building.

Inside police found the victim who suffered burns on his arms, torso and face, police reported.

Witnesses said the man was working on an electrical panel when an explosion occurred, causing the victim's clothing to ignite.

The victim was transported to Saint Barnabas Burn Center by the New Jersey State Police NorthStar Air Medical Helicopter and the co-worker, who suffered burns to his hands and face, was transport to Saint Barnabas by Cranford EMS, police reported.

A third victim, who complained of smoke inhalation, was transported to Robert Wood Johnson Hospital, police reported.
