Driver Charged With DWI, Drug Possession: Cranford Cops

Leroy Hanks was arrested after a traffic stop, police said.

CRANFORD, NJ - A 59-year-old Rahway man was charged with driving while intoxicated after a traffic stop on Jan. 7, according to the Cranford Police Department.

Patrolman Ryan McSherry stopped a 1998 Dodge on Raritan Road near Centennial Avenue for having no operable headlamps, police said. Following an investigation at the scene, McSharry arrested the driver, Leroy Hanks, for driving while intoxicated, police said.

According to authorities, Hanks was processed and provided with a Municipal Court appearance date. In addition, Hanks was issued motor vehicle summonses for failing to signal a turn, improper safety glass, unsafe lane change, careless driving and maintenance of lamps, police said.
