Driver Passed Out Behind Wheel with Cocaine, Heroin Inside in Cranford: Blotter

A total of eight people were arrested last week including a underage drunk driver from Cranford, according to police.

CRANFORD, NJ — Seven of the eight people were arrested for drugs last week in Cranford. There was also a Cranford local arrested for Driving Under the Influence while Underage, according to police.

Cranford Police Blotter:

On Jan. 9 at 9:15 p.m.: Patrol Units responded to a South Avenue business on a report of a suspicious occupied motor vehicle. Ptl. Jason D’Agostino located the occupied 2016 Hyundai, running in the parking lot. Following an on-scene investigation, Ptl. D’Agostino located cocaine and heroin inside the vehicle. The driver, Jennifer Hornsby, 46, of Garwood was arrested for Possession of Controlled Dangerous Substance (Cocaine and Heroin); and Possession of Paraphernalia, processed, and released pending a Superior Court Appearance. Hornsby was also issued a motor vehicle summons for possessing a controlled dangerous substance inside a motor vehicle.

On Jan. 10 at 5:23 p.m.: Ptl. Nelson Hearns was on routine patrol in the area of Centennial Avenue and E. South Avenue. While stopped at a traffic signal, Ptl. Hearns noticed that the driver of a 2000 Honda was passed out behind the wheel. Following an investigation at the scene, Ptl. Hearns located heroin and cocaine in the vehicle. Furthermore, it was determined that the driver, Rodney Bullock, 60, Monroe was operating the vehicle while impaired. Bullock was subsequently arrested for Possession of a Controlled Dangerous Substance(Heroin and Cocaine); Possession of Paraphernalia; and Driving While Intoxicated, processed, and released to a friend pending a Superior Court Appearance. Bullock was issued motor vehicle summonses for driving while intoxicated and possession of a controlled dangerous substance in a motor vehicle.

On Jan. 11 at 2:25 p.m.: During a Traffic Safety Checkpoint, a 2013 BMW was stopped for an expired temporary registration. During the course of the investigation, Ptl. Michael Dubitsky located cocaine and heroin inside the vehicle. A passenger, Jackelyn McCann, 29, Dunellen was arrested for Possession of a Controlled Dangerous Substance (Cocaine and Heroin); Possession of Paraphernalia; and Contempt of Court, processed, and released pending a Superior Court Appearance. The driver was issued motor vehicle summonses for driving while suspended, unclear plates, and unregistered motor vehicle.

On Jan. 14 at 11:04 a.m.: A 2004 Nissan was stopped at Centennial Avenue and Jackson Drive for an equipment violation. Following an investigation at the scene, Ptl. Matthew Siessel located marijuana inside the vehicle. A passenger, Jonathan Washington, 31, Irvington was arrested for Possession of Marijuana (under 50g); Possession of Paraphernalia; and Contempt of Court, processed, and turned over to Mahwah PD on an active traffic warrant. The driver was issued a motor vehicle summons for improper window tint.

On Jan. 14 at 11:33 a.m.: A 2001 Kia was stopped at the intersection of E. North Avenue and Carpenter Place for a seatbelt violation. Following an investigation at the scene, Ptl. Ali Muhammad located marijuana on the driver, Brieri Ake, 27, Newark. Ake was arrested for Possession of Marijuana(under 50g); and Possession of Paraphernalia, processed, and released pending a Municipal Court appearance. Ake was also issued motor vehicle summonses for failure to wear a seatbelt, and possessing a controlled dangerous substance in a motor vehicle.

On Jan. 15 at 12:59 a.m.: A 2002 Mazda was stopped at the intersection of Raritan Road and Centennial Avenue for an inspection violation. Following an investigation at the scene, Ptl. Daniel Donnerstag located various narcotics inside the vehicle. Discovered inside the vehicle were suspected cocaine, heroin, and psilocybin mushrooms. The driver, Olivia Tevlin, 19, of Linden was arrested for Possession of a Controlled Dangerous Substance(Cocaine, Heroin, Psilocybin Mushrooms); and Possession of Paraphernalia, processed, and released pending a Superior Court Appearance. Tevlin was also issued motor vehicle summonses for possessing a controlled dangerous substance inside a motor vehicle, and failure to inspect a motor vehicle.

On Jan. 15 at 9:56 p.m.: A 2005 Mazda was stopped at the intersection of Lexington Avenue and Glenn Avenue for a Stop sign violation. Following an investigation at the scene, Ptl Lynne Galvez determined that the driver, Christopher Brown, 18 of Cranford was operating the motor vehicle while intoxicated underage. Brown was arrested for Driving Under the Influence while Underage, processed, and released to a friend pending a Municipal Court appearance. Brown was also issued motor vehicle summonses for failing to stop at a stop sign, and operating a motor vehicle while consuming alcohol underage.

On Jan. 15 at 11:36 p.m.: A 2007 Honda was stopped at the intersection of Cherokee Road and Mohawk Drive for a traffic signal violation. Following an investigation at the scene, Ptl. Michael O’Neil determined that the driver, Freddy Aybar, 28, of Hillside was driving while intoxicated. As Ptl. O’Neil escorted Aybar from the vehicle, Ptl. O’Neil observed Aybar throw a bag of marijuana under the vehicle. Aybar was arrested for Possession of Marijuana(Under 50g); Possession of Paraphernalia; Driving While Intoxicated; and Obstruction of the Administration of Law, processed, and released to a friend pending a Municipal Court appearance. Aybar was issued motor vehicle summonses for driving while intoxicated, having an open container of alcohol in a motor vehicle, possession of a controlled dangerous substance in a motor vehicle, careless driving, and failure to stop at a red traffic signal.
