Driver, Passenger Arrested After Traffic Stop: Cranford Police

Edgardo Lopez and Ciara Roman were brought up on drug charges after blowing through a red light, police said.

CRANFORD, NJ - Edgardo Lopez, 19, of Carteret and Ciara Roman, 20, of Elizabeth were arrested after driving through a red light on Oct. 29, according to the Cranford Police Department.

According to officials, Patrolman Joseph Sherbo stopped a 2002 Honda on South Union Avenue and Lincoln Avenue East for failing to observe a red traffic signal.

Following an investigation at the scene, Sherbo arrested the driver and passenger, Edgardo Lopez and Ciara Roman, respectively, for suspected marijuana located inside the vehicle, police said. They were both processed and provided with Municipal Court appearance dates. In addition, Lopez was issued motor vehicle summonses for failing to observe a red traffic signal, careless driving and possession of a controlled dangerous substance in a motor vehicle, police said.
