Driver Who Fell Asleep At Cranford Traffic Light Arrested For DWI

Four other people were arrested on drug possession charges in Cranford in separate incidents, according to the police blotter.

CRANFORD, NJ — An Edison man was arrested for driving while intoxicated after he fell asleep at a traffic light in Cranford.

On Nov. 22 at 1:15 a.m., a motorist flagged down a police officer and alerted him to the driver of a 2001 Ford who had fallen asleep at a traffic signal at North Avenue East at Carpenter Place.

Following an investigation the driver, Richard Wardlow, 28, of Edison was arrested for driving while intoxicated, processed and released pending a municipal court hearing, police report.

Wardlow was issued motor vehicle summonses for DWI, careless driving and reckless driving.

On Nov. 17 at 7:54 p.m.: A 2012 Dodge was stopped on Raritan Road at Coleman Avenue for a seat belt violation. Following an investigation the driver, Claude Stites, 43, of Elizabeth was found to be in possession of marijuana and paraphernalia. Stites was arrested for possession of under 50 grams of marijuana and possession of paraphernalia, processed and released pending a municipal court hearing. Stites was also issued motor vehicle summonses for possession of a controlled dangerous substance in a motor vehicle and driving while suspended.

On Nov. 18 at 12:42 a.m.: A 1999 Acura was stopped on Raritan Road at Mohawk Drive for having a vision obstruction. Following an investigation the driver, Juan Tejeda, 20, of South Amboy was found to be in possession of marijuana and paraphernalia. Tejeda was arrested for possession of under 50 grams of marijuana and possession of paraphernalia, processed and released pending a municipal court hearing. Tejeda was also issued motor vehicle summonses for driving while suspended, possession of a controlled dangerous substance in a vehicle and having a vision obstruction.

On Nov. 19 at 3:08 p.m.: A 2008 Nissan was stopped on South Avenue at Burchfield Avenue for a seat belt violation. Following an investigation the driver, Henry Adon, 27, of Elizabeth was found to be in possession of marijuana and paraphernalia. Adon was arrested for possession of under 50 grams of marijuana and possession of paraphernalia, processed and released pending a municipal court hearing. Adon was also issued motor vehicle summonses for possession of a controlled dangerous substance in a motor vehicle, unclear license plates and not wearing a seat belt.

On Nov. 26 at 12:58 p.m.: A 2002 Dodge was stopped for not having a front license plate on Raritan Road. Following an investigation the driver, Nadine Bacek, 43, of Linden was found to be in possession of crack cocaine and paraphernalia. Bacek was arrested for possession of Cocaine and possession of paraphernalia, processed and released pending a superior court date. Bacek was also issued motor vehicle summonses for possession of a controlled dangerous substance in a motor vehicle, driving while suspended and having unclear plates.
