Drug, DWI, Weapon Arrests Made In Cranford

A total of 6 people were arrested on charges including drug possession, driving while intoxicated and weapon possession in Cranford: Police.

CRANFORD, NJ — A total of six people were arrested on charges including drug possession, driving while intoxicated and weapon possession in Cranford, police report.

Cranford Police Blotter:

On Nov. 30 at 1:45 p.m.: A 1995 Honda was stopped on Centennial Avenue at Raritan Road for having a cracked windshield. Following an investigation the driver, Chinonso Ugbuaja, 20, of Orange was found to be in possession of a BB gun. Ugbuaja was arrested for unlawful possession of a weapon, processed and released pending a superior court hearing. Ugbuaja was also issued motor vehicle summonses for driving while suspended, having a cracked windshield and improper maintenance of lamps.

On Dec. 1 at 10:05 a.m.: A 2008 Honda was stopped at Centennial Avenue at Hillside Avenue for having improper window tint. Following an investigation it was determined that the driver, Shariff Richardson, 23, of Edison was in possession of marijuana and paraphernalia. Richardson was arrested for possession of under 50 grams of marijuana and possession of paraphernalia, processed and released pending a municipal court hearing. Richardson was also issued motor vehicle summonses for possession of a controlled dangerous substance in a motor vehicle and having tinted windows.

On Dec. 1 at 10:03 p.m.: A 2012 Honda was stopped on Centennial Avenue at Cummings Street for careless driving. Following an investigation the driver, Jake Connelly, 24, of Flanders was found to be intoxicated. Connelly was arrested for driving while intoxicated, processed and released pending a municipal court hearing. He was issued motor vehicle summonses for DWI, careless driving, possession of an open container in a vehicle, failure to provide documents, improper turn and driving while suspended.

On Dec. 4 at 1:19 p.m.: A 1999 Volvo was stopped at Raritan Road at Centennial Avenue for making an improper turn. Following an investigation the driver, Breman Bookhart, 51, of Irvington was found to be intoxicated. Bookhart was arrested for driving while intoxicated, processed and released pending a municipal court hearing. Bookhart was also issued motor vehicle summonses for DWI, driving while suspended, careless driving, improper turn, possession of an open container in a vehicle and failure to provide breath samples.

On Dec. 5 at 10:19 p.m.: A 2005 Hyundai was stopped on Elise Street for having unclear license plates. Following an investigation the driver, Joseph Castro, 25, of Garwood was found to be in possession of heroin and paraphernalia. Castro was arrested for possession of a controlled dangerous substance (heroin) and possession of paraphernalia, processed and released pending a superior court hearing. Castro was also issued motor vehicle summonses for possession of a controlled dangerous substance in a motor vehicle, driving while suspended, unclear plates and failure to keep right.

On Dec. 7 at 9:22 p.m.: A 2015 Jeep was stopped at Raritan Road at Centennial Avenue for not having headlights illuminated. Following an investigation a passenger in the vehicle, Christopher Suarez, 32, of Sewaren was found to be in possession of under 50 grams of marijuana and paraphernalia. Suarez was arrested for possession of under 50 grams of marijuana and possession of paraphernalia, processed and released pending a municipal court hearing. The driver of the vehicle was issued motor vehicle summonses for not having headlights illuminated and for having tinted windows.
