Drugs, DWI, Fraud Arrests Made In Cranford

5 people were arrested by Cranford Police on charges including heroin and marijuana possession, driving while intoxicated and fraud.

CRANFORD, NJ — A total of five people were arrested last week by Cranford Police on charges including heroin and marijuana possession, driving while intoxicated and fraud.

Cranford Police Blotter:

On Nov. 2 at 2 p.m.: Detective Derek Farbanec observed a suspicious individual shopping in a retail store on North Avenue East. Following an investigation it was determined that the suspect, Mohammed Patwary, 25, of Brooklyn, New York was attempting to make a purchase with a fraudulent credit card and he was found to be in possession of a ficticious government document. Patwary was arrested for fraudulent use of a credit card and possession of a false government document, processed and released pending a superior court hearing.

On Nov. 3 at 1:29 p.m.: A 1995 Buick was stopped on Raritan Road at Centennial Avenue for having a cracked windshield and for having a brake light that was inoperable. Following an investigation the driver, Johnathan Beety, 30, of Beachwood was found to be in possession of marijuana and paraphernalia. Beety was arrested for possession of under 50 grams of marijuana and possession of paraphernalia, processed and released pending a municipal court hearing. Beety was also issued motor vehicle summonses for possession of a controlled dangerous substance in a motor vehicle, failure to maintain lamps and having a vision obstruction.

On Nov. 5 at 12:15 a.m.: A 2005 Nissan was stopped on Centennial Avenue at Hayes Street for having an expired inspection sticker. Following an investigation the driver, Julianne Genna, 18, of Linden was found to be in possession of under 50 grams of marijuana and paraphernalia. Genna was arrested for possession of under 50 grams of marijuana and possession of paraphernalia, processed and released pending a municipal court hearing. Genna was also issued motor vehicle summonses for possession of a controlled dangerous substance in a motor vehicle and failure to exhibit documents.

On Nov. 5 at 7:03 p.m.: A 2015 Infinity was stopped on South Avenue East at Burchfield Avenue for careless driving. Following an investigation the driver, Yvonne Cunningham, 57, of Elizabeth was found to be intoxicated. Cunningham was arrested for driving while intoxicated, refusal to submit to a breathalyzer and careless driving, charged and released pending a municipal court hearing.

On Nov. 7 at 3:03 p.m.: A 2008 Porsche was stopped on Myrtle Street at Rod Smith Place for failing to keep right. Following an investigation the driver, Lauren Keller, 32, of Seaside Park was found to be in possession of heroin, paraphernalia and a hypodermic syringe. The passenger, John Choi, 44, of Lyndhurst was also found to be in possession of heroin, paraphernalia and a hypodermic syringe. Choi and Keller were arrested for possession of a controlled dangerous substance (heroin), possession of paraphernalia and possession of a hypodermic syringe, processed and released pending a superior court hearing. Keller was also issued motor vehicle summonses for driving while suspended, failing to exhibit credentials, failure to keep right and possession of a controlled dangerous substance in a motor vehicle.
