Drunk Driver On Hayes Street Arrested: Cranford Police

Ashton Lofton was caught in a DWI checkpoint, police said.

CRANFORD, NJ - A 23-year-old Hillside man was arrested and charged with driving while intoxicated after being stopped in a DWI checkpoint on June 2, according to the Cranford Police Department.

According to authorities,m Patrolman Steven D'Ambola stopped a 2009 Nissan Centennial Avenue as part of a DWI Checkpoint. Following an investigation on scene, D’Ambola arrested the driver, Ashton Lofton, for driving while intoxicated and being under the influence of a controlled dangerous substance, police said.

He was processed and provided with a Municipal Court appearance date. In addition, Lofton was issued motor vehicle summonses for a seatbelt violation, throwing debris from a vehicle, careless driving and the improper letting off of passengers, police said.
