DWI Crash, Drug Charges In Cranford: Police
A Westfield resident was ticketed not only with DWI but having no insurance or registration.

CRANFORD, NJ - A 53-year-old Westfield resident was arrested and charged with driving while intoxicated after a motor vehicle crash on Oct. 9, according to the Cranford Police Department. Police units were dispatched to the area of North Avenue East and Carpenter Place for a reported motor vehicle crash and following an investigation at the scene, Patrolman John Rattigan arrested one of the drivers, Pamela Dunne, for driving while intoxicated, police said. She was processed and provided with a Municipal Court appearance date. In addition, she was issued a motor vehicle summons for careless driving, delaying traffic, having no insurance card in her possession and having no registration card in her possession, police said.

- On Oct. 13 a 1994 Toyota was stopped on North Avenue East near the Garden State Parkway 137 exchange for the improper use of high beam lights, police said. Following an investigation at the scene, Patrolman Shayne Temple arrested the driver, Anthony Perry of Easton, Pa., for driving while intoxicated, police said. He was processed and provided with a Municipal Court appearance date. In addition, Perry was issued motor vehicle summonses for improper use of his high beam lights, careless driving, failure to observe a red traffic signal and failure to keep right, police said.
- On Oct. 14 a 1998 Ford was stopped on North Avenue East near the Garden State Parkway 137 exchange for a cracked windshield, police said. Following an investigation at the scene, Patrolman Ryan Gerrity arrested the driver, Egbert Ward of Wharton, for a hypodermic syringe and drug paraphernalia located inside the vehicle, police said. He was processed and provided with a Municipal Court appearance date. In addition, he was issued motor vehicle summonses for a view obstruction and failure to signal a turn, police said.
- On Oct. 15 a 2017 Kia was stopped on Centennial Avenue near Raritan after police witnessed the driver fail to signal a lane change, police said. Following an investigation at the scene, Patrolman Nicholas Cook arrested a passenger, 34-year-old Frank Perez of Haverstraw, NY, for drug paraphernalia located inside the vehicle, police said. He was also issued a summons for an open container of alcohol and then processed and provided with a Municipal Court appearance date, police said. In addition, the driver was issued motor vehicle summonses for failing to signal a lane change, police said.
- On Oct. 16, a 2001 Nissan was stopped on Sutton Place near Orange Avenue for an expired inspection decal, police said. Following an investigation at the scene, Patrolman Timothy Handy arrested the driver, 22-year-old Rebecca Souza of Hillside, for suspected marijuana located inside the vehicle, police said. She was processed and provided with a Municipal Court appearance date. In addition, she was issued motor vehicle summonses for an expired inspection decal, failure to signal a turn and possession of a controlled dangerous substance in a motor vehicle, police said.
