Elementary School In Cranford Gets New Assistant Principal
She has a master's degree in math and a degree in supervision and administration, the district said.
CRANFORD, NJ — The Cranford Board of Education announced Monday that Nicole Vaccaro is the new assistant principal at Hillside Avenue School.
Vaccaro was chosen "after an extensive search process that included multiple interviews with the selection committee and a very thorough reference check," according to a release from the district.
Vaccaro began her career teaching mathematics at Howitt Middle School in Farmingdale, NY. While there, she helped secure grant funding and directed a summer program for elementary at-risk students entering middle school.

Vaccaro then transitioned to Bronxville Middle School where she taught seventh and eighth grade math and algebra 1. Within a year she was appointed as the dean of students, a role she held for two years before being appointed as chairperson of the middle school mathematics department.
Most recently, she taught precalculus at Scotch Plains-Fanwood High School and for the past two years has taught mathematics in grades six through eight as well as all financial literacy classes at Hillside Avenue School.

She is also a member of the district assessment committee and the district middle school scheduling committee.
Vaccaro holds a Bachelor of Science degree in Comprehensive Science from Villanova University, a Master of Science degree in Mathematics Education from CW Post-Long Island University and a degree in Supervision and Administration from Hofstra University, the district said.
"Vaccaro is honored and excited to be named the new assistant principal at Hillside Avenue School and is extremely grateful to work with the incredible Hillside staff and students in this new role," the district noted.
