Emma's Brick Oven Earns Feature in National Magazine

Cranford pizzeria known for nontraditional Pizza Squares is getting national attention.

Local pizzeria Emma's Brick Oven is getting a boost: The Union Avenue North business, known for its “Thin Crust Square” pizza, will be featured in a fall issue of Pizza Today magazine, the Independent Press reported.

The magazine's managing editor and photographer paid a visit to Emma's Wednesday to conduct and interview and take shots of the eatery, which is hoping to win approval from the U.S. Food and Drug Administration to market their nontraditional pizza squares in supermarkets, the article said. The Pizza Today piece should appear in September or October.

Much attention was focused on the restaurant's most popular offering, the Pesto Square, which is offered for dine-in Saturdays after 5 p.m. The dish won second place in the nontraditional category at the International Pizza Expo held in Las Vegas last March.
