The Friends of the Cranford Public Library are very pleased to host a performance by acclaimed singer/songwriter Greg Trooper. A New Jersey native, Trooper has been writing and performing since the early Seventies, with stints in New York City, Austin and Nashville. He has released nine albums, the most recent being The Williamsburg Affair (2009), and is currently at work on a new album entitled Upside-Down Town. WFUV selected Trooper's Floating as one of the best releases of 2003 and his Make It Through This World as one of the best of 2005. Music critic Barry Mazor notes that Trooper "sings with a clarity of purpose and a variety of effect that few in the acoustic world match." Billboard magazine has called him "an artist of considerable insight and passion," while Nashville music critic Robert K. Oermann has said Trooper's "songs and delivery grab you by the throat." In addition to being an impressive performer in his own right, Trooper's songs have been recorded by the likes of Vince Gill ("We Won't Dance"), Steve Earle ("Little Sister"), Billy Bragg ("Everywhere"), Roseanne Cash, Maura O'Connell and Robert Earl Keen.
