Classic Film: Little Women (1933, 116 minutes)

This faithful adaptation of Louisa May Alcott's Civil War-era novel focuses almost exclusively on the ambitions, desires, and emotions of the titular four sisters. The story concerns the lives of four New England sisters -- Jo (Katharine Hepburn), Amy (Joan Bennett), Meg (Frances Dee), and Beth (Jean Parker) -- during the time of the American Civil War. While their father is away serving as a minister to the troops, the girls and their beloved Marmee struggle to make ends meet.--All Movie Guide
