The Genealogical Society of the West Fields will host the public on Thursday March 10, at the Westfield Public Libaray, 550 East Braod Street, at 1:00PM. The public is invited to hear Steven D. Glazer, noted Civil War historian, as he discusses the local involvement in the war 150 years ago. Steven D. Glazer from the Civil War Sesquicentennial Committee discusses the history of the Civil War at the local level, including how to research it. He recently completed his sudy guide "Discover Your Community's Civil War Heritage". Glazer hopes to encourage building a full committee in Westfield to research its Civil War history and veterans.
Professor Glazer holds a BA , B.S.E.E. and J.D. degrees from Rutgera University, as well as a M.S. from Fairleigh Dickenson University. He retired from the U.S. Army as a lieutenant colonel in 1997, after serving six years as an intelligence electronic-warfare officer in the Pentagon.He is also a recently retired partner from the law firm of Weil, Gotshal & Manges LLP in Manhatten and an adjunct professor at Rugtgers Law School in Newark.
