Irish-Americans have been prominent in American politics for more than two centuries. They took over many of the nation's largest cities and established the American political machine. Historian Terry Golway will examine the legacy and style of the Irish in American politics. Golway is an assistant professor of history at Kean University, as well as curator of the John Kean Center of American History at Kean University. He is a contributor to the New York Times, the Boston Globe, American Heritage and the Irish Echo, as well as a columnist for America. His most recent book is Together We Cannot Fail : FDR and the American Presidency in Years of Crisis. Sponsored by the Friends of the Cranford Public Library.
