Explosion In Cranford Leads To Arrest Of Linden Man
An explosion was reportedly heard in the area of Raritan Road and Summit Terrace in Cranford on Wednesday night.

CRANFORD, NJ — A Union County man was arrested following an explosion in Cranford on Wednesday night.
At 7:06 p.m. an explosion was reportedly heard in the area of Raritan Road and Summit Terrace in Cranford.
Through a surveillance video and eyewitness accounts police were able to locate and arrest Michael Kossup, 26, at his Linden home.

Kossup was found to have been modifying mortar-style fireworks and setting them off along Raritan Road (County Route 611). No injuries were reported as a result from the explosions.
Kossup was charged with possession of prohibited destructive devices (third-degree), possession of under 50 grams (marijuana) and possession of paraphernalia.

Kossup was processed at Cranford Police Headquarters and provided with a Union County Superior Court appearance date.
The Union County Prosecutor’s Office, Linden Police Department, New Jersey Office of Homeland Security and Preparedness, the Union County S.W.A.T. Team, the Union County Bomb Squad, the Union County Sheriff’s Department, and the Joint Terrorism Task Force all helped in the investigation.
What the explosion was or the cause was not explained at this time.
