Fast-Acting Cranford Police Help Deliver Baby
In a matter of nine minutes from the time a 911 call went out to police, about a Cranford mom in labor, a baby boy was born.

CRANFORD, NJ — In a matter of nine minutes from the time a 911 call went out to police, about a Cranford mom in labor, a baby boy was born.
It was Monday night around 10:29 p.m. when Cranford Police got a 911 call from a Hillside Avenue man saying his wife was in labor.
Officer Gregory Federici arrived first at the home and found that Gina Petrillo-Medler’s water had broken.

With help from Gina’s husband, Kase Medler, and Officers Ryan Gerrity and Brian Trotter, Officer Federici was able to successfully deliver a 7 pound 13 ounce baby boy, Kasey Thomas Medler at 10:38 p.m.
The mother and baby were transported to an area hospital for evaluation, and are in good health.

“These types of calls are not a common occurrence, but the Officer’s training and instincts kicked in, making for a successful outcome," Cranford Chief James Wozniak states.
