Triple Digit Temperatures Target NJ As Heat Warnings Expand: See Latest Timing

The hot streak and humidity could break records according to the latest weather report.

NEW JERSEY— The wet weather is moving on in the Garden State but New Jersey is about to be hit with a temperature upswing that will bring extreme heat and humidity to the region prompting warnings from forecasters.

Starting Wednesday and lingering through Saturday, heat watches have been issued for the entire state.

"Dangerously hot conditions with heat index values up to 110 degrees possible during the daytime hours," forecasters said. "High temperatures will be well in the mid 90s to as high as 105 degrees, with maximum heat index values between 100 and 110 degrees for multiple days."

The partly sunny skies and temperatures in the upper 70s to lower 80s Sunday are due to a more comfortable air mass that will leave the state Monday, officials said. Isolated showers or storms are also possible Sunday, according to the National Weather Service.

"Returning late next week, there is the potential for a few high temperature records to be broken, particularly on Thursday," they said.

Very warm low temperatures in the mid 70s to low 80s at night will not offer any relief from the heat, forecasters said. This combined with multiple days of near record breaking temperatures will exacerbate the impacts from the heat and humidity, according to officials.
