Foot Chase In Cranford Woods Leads To Marijuana Arrests

Three Roselle men were arrested for marijuana possession after they were spotted in a wooded area in Cranford, police report.

CRANFORD, NJ — Three men from Roselle were arrested for marijuana possession after they were spotted in the woods, Cranford Police report.

On May 11 at 2:28 p.m., patrol units responded to the area of Dermody Street in Cranford on a parking complaint. A witness reported that people inside the car went into a wooded area.

Patrolman Joseph Sherbo went into the woods and spotted the three men. One of the men, Jabril Murray, 20, of Roselle began to run from Shrebo and was arrested after a short foot chase, according to police.

Following an investigation, Sherbo found marijuana at the scene and Laquan Gilmore, 21, of Roselle and Nikolaus Yearwood, 20, of Roselle were each charged with possession of marijuana.

Jabril Murray was charged with possession of marijuana, possession of paraphernalia and resisting arrest. All were arrested, processed and released pending a Municipal Court appearance.

On May 9 at 6:26 p.m.: A 2000 Nissan was stopped at the intersection of Centennial Avenue and Winans Avenue for an equipment violation. Following an investigation at the scene, Patrolman Gregory Federici located marijuana inside the vehicle. The driver, Jerry Jean-Charles, 28, of Hillsdale was arrested possession of marijuana (under 50 grams) and possession of paraphernalia, processed and released pending a Municipal Court appearance. Jean-Charles was issued motor vehicle summonses for failure to maintain lamps, driving while suspended and possession of a controlled dangerous substance in a motor vehicle.
