Free Concert by Musical Club of Westfield

You Are Invited to a Free Winter Concert

The Musical Club of Westfield, a 501©3 organization in its 101st year, invites the public to a free concert to be held Wednesday, February 8, 2017 at 1:30 pm at the First Baptist Church of Westfield 170 Elm Street, Westfield NJ .

This February offering in a monthly series of free concerts, will open with flutist Jenny Cline and pianist Fumi Kuwajima who will be performing Sicilienne et Burlesque by composer Alfredo Casella. This piece will be followed by the Premiere Performance of Gary Schocker’s Little Star, composed just last year.

The second portion of the concert will be presented by bass-baritone Glen Crane who will be accompanied by pianist Mary Beth McFall. Mr. Crane will begin with three arias from Mozart’s Don Giovanni, “Notte e giorno”, “Deh vieni alla finestra”, and “Finch’han dal vino.” He will continue with “Infelice”, from Verdi’s Ernani, “La Calunnia” from Rossini’s Il Barbiere Di Siviglia and, as a final selection, “Il Balen del suo sorriso” from Verdi’s Il Trovatore.

Composer and pianist Michael Rosin will close the concert. He will perform Bach’s Sinfonia No.12 in A Major, Mr. Rosin’s own composition, Academic Fantasia and Brahms Intermezzi, Op. 119, No.1 and No. 2.

There will be a reception with light refreshments immediately after the concert where audience members will have the opportunity to meet the performers. The Musical Club of Westfield is a not for profit organization whose mission is to foster and encourage good music, provide performance opportunities and support young musicians with college scholarships.
