Friends Of Michael Wielgus Show Support at Crossroads Benefit
Jill Cagney and Jared McCloud perform to help raise $1,700 to help offset medical bills or a Cranford teen.
Jill Cagney, a local resident, recording artist and friend of the Wielgus family of Cranford, performed at The Crossroads in Garwood on Tuesday along with singer Jared McCloud. Together, they helped raise $1,700 to help the Wielgus family offset the costs of cancer treatment for their son, Michael.
Michael Wielgus, 14, was recently diagnosed with a recurrence of brain cancer, and has to resume treatment for his illness. When Cagney, whose son is friends with Michael, heard about the teen's illness, she decided to step in and help the family by donating the proceeds from the show to help the family.
Cranford classmates, parents, friends and supporters of Michael packed The Crossroads in Garwood and contributed the $10 cover charge - with many donating much more - and purchased raffle tickets, with the proceeds going to the Wielgus family. Cranford resident Leigh Esposito won the 50-50 and gave her winnings back to the family.
