'Fugitive From Justice' Caught In Cranford: Police

Mohamed Alaoui had an active arrest warrant in Virginia, police said.

CRANFORD, NJ - A 26-year-old Cranford man was arrested after traffic stop for a seatbelt violation in Jan. 15, according to the Cranford Police Department.

According to authorities, Patrolman Joseph Sherbo stopped a 2008 Saab on South Union Avenue at Lincoln Avenue West for a seatbelt violation. Following an investigation at the scene, Sherbo arrested the driver, Mohamed Alaoui, for
an active warrant for his arrest out of Virginia, police said.

He was processed and remanded to the Union County Jail pending extradition. In addition, he was issued motor vehicle summonses for a seatbelt violation and throwing debris from a vehicle, police said.
