Heroin, Cocaine, Hypodermic Needle Seized In Cranford

Cranford Police arrested six people recently for possession of drugs including heroin, cocaine, marijuana and a hypodermic needle.

CRANFORD, NJ —

On Oct. 20 at 5:12 p.m.: A 1998 Honda was stopped on Centennial Avenue at Cayuga Road for a seat belt violation. Following an investigation the driver, Deanna Genna, 21, of Sayreville and the passenger, Stephen Cox, 32, of Sayreville were found to be in possession of cocaine, heroin and a hypodermic syringe. Genna and Cox were arrested for possession of a controlled dangerous substance(cocaine), possession of a controlled dangerous substance (heroin), possession of hypodermic syringe and possession of paraphernalia, processed and released pending a Superior Court date. The driver, Genna, was also issued motor vehicle summonses for not wearing a seat belt and possession of a CDS in a vehicle.

On Oct. 21 at 2:12 a.m.: A 2002 Volkswagen was stopped for a broken taillight on North Avenue East. Following an investigation Bishop Tyler, 20, of Plainfield was found to be in possession of marijuana. Tyler was arrested for possession of under 50 grams of marijuana and possession of paraphernalia, processed and released pending a superior court date. Tyler was also issued motor vehicle summonses for having a broken taillight and possession of a controlled dangerous substance in a vehicle.

On Oct. 24 at 9:32 p.m.: A 2006 Pontiac was stopped for having an unclear license plate on North Avenue East at Carpenter Place. Following an investigation a passenger in the vehicle, Levaughn Allen, 29, of Plainfield falsely identified himself to officers on scene and was found to be in possession of under 50 grams of marijuana. Allen was arrested for possession of under 50 grams of marijuana, possession of paraphernalia and hindering, processed and released pending a municipal court hearing. The driver was issued motor vehicle summonses for having an unclear license plate and failure to inspect a motor vehicle.

On Oct. 25 at 9:48 p.m.: A bicyclist was stopped on North Avenue East at Elizabeth Avenue for not having required lights on a bicycle. The bicyclist was with two pedestrians who were also stopped. Following an investigation one of the pedestrians, Steven Deluke, 25, of Cranford was found to be in possession of under 50 grams of marijuana and paraphernalia. Deluke was arrested for possession of under 50 grams of marijuana and possession of paraphernalia, processed and released pending a municipal court hearing. The operator of the bicycle was issued a summons for not having required lights on a bicycle.

On Oct. 25 at 11:19 p.m.: A 2003 Mercury was stopped on Centennial Avenue at Hayes Street for a seat belt violation. Following an investigation the driver, Ryan Morrell, 35, of Colonia was found to be in possession of cocaine and heroin. Morrell was arrested for possession of a controlled dangerous substance (cocaine), possession of a controlled dangerous substance (heroin) and possession of paraphernalia, charged and released pending a superior court hearing. Morrell was also issued motor vehicle summonses for failure to wear a seat belt and possession of a controlled dangerous substance in a vehicle.
