Heroin, Marijuana Arrests Made In Cranford

Cranford Police arrested 8 people for marijuana possession and 3 for heroin possession recently in the borough.

CRANFORD, NJ — Cranford Police arrested eight people for marijuana possession and three for heroin possession recently in the borough.

Cranford Police Blotter:

On May 15 at 1:09 p.m.: A 2005 Pontiac was stopped at the intersection of Raritan Road and Moen Avenue for a seatbelt violation. Following an investigation at the scene, Patrolman Robert Jordan located marijuana and prescription pills inside the vehicle. A passenger, Afrika Isalm, 21, of Newark was charged with possession of marijuana and possession of paraphernalia. The driver, Aniyah Towler, 22, of Roselle was charged with possession of a prescription analog, possession of marijuana and possession of paraphernalia. Both were processed and released, pending a Superior Court appearance. Isalm was issued a motor vehicle summons for failure to wear a seat belt. Towler was issued motor vehicle summonses for improper window tint, driving without a license, and possession of a controlled dangerous substance in a motor vehicle.

On May 16 at 4:11 p.m.: A 2000 Chevrolet was stopped in the area of Walnut Avenue and South Avenue for a cell phone violation. Following an investigation at the scene, Detective Steven D’Ambola determined that the driver, Ermal Rustemmliu, 29, of West Caldwell was providing him with a false name. Rustemmliu was arrested for hindering apprehension, processed, and released pending a Municipal Court appearance. Additionally, Rustemmliu was issued motor vehicle summonses for failure to wear seatbelt, utilizing a cell phone while operating a motor vehicle, driving while suspended and failure to exhibit documents.

On May 17 at 12:20 p.m.: A 2012 Jeep was stopped at the intersection of E. North Avenue and the Garden State Parkway southbound ramp for a cell phone violation. Following an investigation at the scene, Patrolman Michael Dubitsky located heroin in possession of the driver, Danielle Urbanowicz, 29, of Parlin. Urbanowicz was arrested for possession of a controlled dangerous substance(heroin) and possession of paraphernalia, processed, and released pending a Superior Court appearance. Additionally, Urbaowicz was issued motor vehicle summonses for driving while utilizing a cellular device and possessing a controlled dangerous substance in a motor vehicle.

On May 17 at 6:30 p.m.: A 2007 Dodge was stopped at the intersection of Centennial Avenue and Hayes Street for a signal violation. Following an investigation at the scene, Patolrman Gregory Federici located heroin inside the vehicle. Both the driver, Carmine Ciano, 20, of Kenilworth and the passenger, Dominick Ciano, 19, of Kenilworth were arrested for possession of a controlled dangerous substance (heroin) and possession of paraphernalia, processed and released pending a Superior Court appearance. Carmine Ciano was issued motor vehicle summonses for failure to utilize his turn signal and possessing a controlled dangerous substance in a motor vehicle.

On May 19 at 8:01 p.m.: A 2016 Yamaha was stopped at the intersection of Centennial Avenue and Hayes Street for an illegal turn. Following an investigation at the scene, Patrolman Jason D’Agostino located marijuana on the operator, Patrick Cross, 36, of Rahway. Cross was arrested for possession of marijuana (under 50 grams) and possession of paraphernalia, processed, and released pending a Municipal Court appearance. Additionally, Cross was issued motor vehicle summonses for improper turn, unclear license plates, and possession of a controlled dangerous substance in a motor vehicle.

On May 20 at 2:34 p.m.: A 2000 Mitsubishi was stopped at the intersection of Cayuga Road and Centennial Avenue for an equipment violation. Following an investigation at the scene, Patrolman Matthew Siessel located marijuana on a passenger, Christopher Graves, 35, of Irvington. Graves was arrested for possession of marijuana (under 50 grams) and possession of paraphernalia, processed, and released pending a Municipal Court Appearance. The driver was issued motor vehicle summonses for failure to maintain lamps and driving while suspended.

On May 21 at 11:39 a.m.: A 2004 Hyundai was stopped at the intersection of E. South Avenue and E. Lincoln Avenue for a seatbelt violation. Following an investigation at the scene, Patrolman Ali Muhammad located marijuana on the driver, Dajahn Daniels, 24, of Plainfield. Daniels was arrested for possession of marijuana (under 50 grams) and possession of paraphernalia, processed, and released pending a Municipal Court appearance. Additionally, Daniels was issued motor vehicle summonses for failure to wear a seatbelt and possession of a controlled dangerous substance in a motor vehicle.

On May 22 at 12:29 a.m.: A 1999 Dodge was stopped at the intersection of E. North Avenue and the Garden State Parkway 137 ramp for multiple equipment violation. Following an investigation at the scene, Patrolman James Knight located marijuana in the vehicle. The driver, Cruz Soto, 20, of Roselle Park and passengers, Brian Aranguren, 24, of Jersey City and Adnan Nikovic, 18. of Roselle Park were arrested for possession of marijuana(under 50g) and possession of paraphernalia, processed, and released pending a Municipal Court appearance. Soto was issued motor vehicle summonses for having a cracked windshield, failing to maintain lamps, and possessing a controlled dangerous substance in a motor vehicle.
