Home Full Of Drugs, Pills, Cash Found Near Cranford School: Police

An alleged Cranford drug dealer was arrested for having marijuana, prescription pills, cash, and drug-related items in his home: police.

CRANFORD, NJ — A home within feet of a Cranford elementary school was filled with drugs and cash, police announced.

"The Cranford Police Department will not stand for any level of narcotics activity in the Cranford, especially an operation which is in eye-sight of a Grammar School," Chief James Wozniak said.

Cranford Police Department Investigative Division found a quantity of marijuana, prescription pills, sums of cash, and narcotic related paraphernalia inside the Bloomingdale Avenue following the execution of search warrant on Nov. 30.

The month long investigation led by Detective Spencer Durkin culminated in the arrest of Anthony S. Merola, 19, of Cranford.

Merola was charged with Possession with the intent to Distribute(Marijuana), Possession of Marijuana over 50 grams, Possession with intent to Distribute within a 1000 feet of a school, and Possession of Prescription Pills. Merola was released pending a Superior Court Appearance in Elizabeth.
