The Friends of the Cranford Public Library are pleased to sponsor an appearance by famed Irish fiddler John Carty. John Carty is one of Ireland’s finest traditional musicians, having been awarded the Irish Television station Teilifis Gaeilge’s Traditional Musician of the Year Award in 2003. He has released three solo fiddle albums, two banjo albums, and two group albums. Mr. Carty performs regularly with Chieftain’s flautist Matt Molloy, and a CD of their music entitled “Pathway to the Well,” was released in 2007. Mr. Carty also tours the U.K., the U.S., and Ireland with a group named Patrick Street. The group includes legendary musicians Andy Irvine, Kevin Burke, and Ged Foley. He has also appeared as a special guest with the Chieftains and De Danaan. Admission to the program is free and all are welcome.
